Lynn Margulis observed with great conviction that “no organism exists independently in nature” — offering us the possibility of understanding the vast symbiotic web that surrounds us and of which we are part. This material insight guides the projects and lines of inquiry that orbit Ruca Kreis. Caught in a polycrisis — climatic, economic, human — it becomes urgently necessary to heighten the sensory life of human and non-human communities alike, to accelerate our capacity to envision shared and healthy futures: luminous, participatory, flourishing. The works and projects that ignite us are those that reveal emotional and political ways out of the tangled present we are living through.
And in this, we are guided by the force of Metakyase — the possibility of giving thanks for the vast network of relationships that holds us together and makes us who we are.
