Ruca Kreis is a garden nestled in the heart of the Heiligenberg in Heidelberg, Germany. The garden is a house of fire — it nourishes and gives life to everything we do, and it is the central gathering place where we come together to listen, to feel, to transform, and to find new ways of relating to nature and to all living things around us.
In the Ruca — which means home — we gather in circle and honour ancient Amerindian ceremonial practices, which we understand as mysterious pathways for connecting with ourselves and with the world we inhabit. Within the Ruca, we have built a temazcal altar that is regularly activated for the physical and mental wellbeing of the people who form part of our community.
And we love art. We embrace the many ways of accessing sound, dance, land-based artistic practices — in dialogue with architecture, performance and new technologies.
